The MDR-TB morbidity rates in Belarus are among the highest registered in the world. In 2016, 38% of all new cases were considered to have MDR-TB, as did 72% of previously treated cases (WHO Global TB Report 2017).

According to the WHO review of the national TB program in Belarus, MDR-TB and XDR-TB should be considered a public health emergency in the country.
